Djokovic needed only a bit more over an hour to defeat Frances Tiafoe 6-1 6-3 and give back the lead to Team Europe.
Djokovic had not played since the Wimbledon final and it was a very good return for the Serbian to London. Despite missing that much time, Djokovic looked very sharp and comfortable from the start. It was a simply a masterclass of tennis from a player that many consider the best right now.
He's not ranked number one but this performance was certainly one worthy of the number one ranking, particularly when we remember how well Tiafoe played at the US Open. There is just not much to add here because Djokovic controlled the tempo and match very well.
He pushed the ball around the court making Tiafoe move and forcing him to take some shots that were pretty hard to hit. The American had some spectacular winners but overall it was simply not enough for the Serbian. He will now stay on the court to play doubles with Berrettini.
