The exceptional form of both
Novak Djokovic and
Carlos Alcaraz during the 2023 season might have come as a surprise to some, but not to Spaniard
Pablo Carreno Busta, who recently shared his thoughts on the formidable duo.
Djokovic and Alcaraz have dominated the ATP tour this season, with each holding onto the World No.1 position at some point during the year. Furthermore, both men have won all four Grand Slams this season, with Djokovic winning the Australian Open, Roland Garros and US Open while Alcaraz prevailed at Wimbledon.
Carreno Busta not surprised at the feats of the dominant duo
"I couldn't tell you, honestly," said the former World No.10 in an interview with Punto de Break. "Djokovic has continued as he was, Carlos has maintained the level that he had been having last year. Maybe that might surprise someone, but not me."
The Spaniard also acknowledged some of the younger players on tour, singling out Jannik Sinner and Holger Rune.
"There have been young players like Sinner, who seems to have taken a little step further," he added. "Rune, although he hasn't won many games in recent months, has also improved... Everything has been more or less similar."
