Novak Djokovic has officially landed in Australia, a year after his deportation from the country that left him wondering whether he'll ever return down under.
The former world number one touched down unvaccinated, same as last year but public sentiment seems to favour him this time around as opposed to last year. Djokovic still doesn't hold much sympathy amongst the Australian people due to the way last year unfolded but he's hopeful tennis fans among them might still back him as he hopes to win the 10th Australian Open of his career.
Australian Open CEO Craig Tiley expressed confidence that his fellow countrymen will back Djokovic in his quest to become the greatest of all time:
"I have a great deal of confidence in the Australian public. We’re a very well-educated sporting public, particularly those who come to the tennis, they love their tennis, they love seeing greatness, they love seeing great athleticism, great matches."
