Wimbledon is slowly approaching and to hype the fans up, the event released a 60 seconds promo video however it's lacking in the Novak Djokovic department.
Djokokvoi has been undoubtedly the second-best player at the event behind Federer in recent memory winning the trophy 7 times. The Serbian is likely to add an 8th at this year's event but somehow the event doesn't seem to feature him a lot in the promo stuff for it. There has been a long-time assertion that the English crowd isn't really fancy about Djokovic and it's probably true.
The event itself has been rather fair to Djokovic but this 60-second promo video does lack in the Djokovic department. We've also seen him once for a few seconds towards the end of the video and there are plenty of both former and current players that had more screen time than the legendary player.
There have been a lot of Djokovic fans up in arms following the video bashing Wimbledon for basically all but ignoring Djokovic. The video speaks loudly for itself but the accompanying description didn't do much to dispel the rumours that he was skipped over on purpose. According to Wimbledon, the video is supposed to show the history of the event through some legendary players as well as current players who are likely to factor prominently in the future.
That's all fine and dandy however they didn't mention Djokovic once in the description. He won the event 7 times, four times in a row now and is the defending champion leading up to this event. Noted Djokovic superfan Pavy pocked fun at the announcement on Twitter:
"Wimbledon state that their promotion this year focuses on some of its iconic players like Serena, Venus, Federer, Nadal, Borg and McEnroe and juxtaposing them with the modern history makers and rising stars like Jabeur, Gauff, Krygios and Alfie Hewett. No room for Djokovic."
