The 2021 season was some brilliant performances from many top guys in tennis like Djokovic, Medvedev, and Zverev but who dominated on which surface?
Danil Medvedev led the ATP Tour with a career-high 63 tour-level match wins and recorded 51 wins to 8 defeats on hard-court. Medvedev is the 2021 indoor leader with 18 match wins playing three finals overall and losing two of those. Alexander Zverev won 41 of his 50 matches on hard court and claimed five titles on this surface in Acapulco, at the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Cincinnati, Vienna, and at the ATP Finals in Turin.
Jannik Sinner scored 39 match wins on hard-court and 17 indoor victories during his breakthrough season and won four of his five titles on hard courts in Melbourne, Washington, Sofia, and Antwerp. Andrey Rublev won 37 matches on hard court and his fifth ATP 500 title in Rotterdam. The Russian player reached three finals on three different surfaces in Monte-Carlo (clay), Halle (grass), and Cincinnati (hard court).
Casper Ruud is at the top of the 2021 clay court wins list with 28 victories. The Norwegian player won four titles on clay in Geneva, Baastad, Gstaad, and Kitzbuhel, and one hard-court tournament in San Diego. Stefanos Tsitsipas claimed 23 match wins on clay and won two titles on this surface in Monte-Carlo and Lyon and reached his first Grand Slam final at Roland Garros.
