Serbia’s
Novak Djokovic continued his winning return to the
US Open with another thumping triumph.
The 36-year-old registered a win in straight sets in the
round of 64 of the fourth and final Grand Slam of the year against Bernabe
Zapata Miralles with a score of 6-4, 6-1, 6-1 on Wednesday.
In a match that lasted just a minute less than two hours, Djokovic ended up losing just six games.
The first set of the match was the closest one where the current world number two ended up winning 84 percent service points, considerably higher than Zapata who won just 62 percent points while serving.
Djokovic further strengthened his position in the second set where he won 72 percent service points, once again nearly double of what his opponent managed to achieve.
The third set proved to be a replica of the second set where once again the Serb proved too hot to handle for his opponent. He ended up producing 13 winners, nine more than Zapata.
In total, Djokovic converted six break points in the match whereas his opponent could not win a single break point.
The 23-time Grand Slam winner will now face fellow Serb Laslo Djere in the round of 32 fixture on Friday.
