The draw has been confirmed for the 2025 Cincinnati Open on the men's side held between 7-18 August and will take place with Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz making their return after taking the Canadian Open off.
As well as Sinner and Alcaraz, the field is also completed by Alexander Zverev, Taylor Fritz, Lorenzo Musetti and Holger Rune as the top players. Novak Djokovic was entered but has since decided to withdraw and now won't play a warm-up tournament before the US Open which is to come in the next few weeks.
Sinner won the 2024 Cincinnati Open with a 7-6(4), 6-2 win over Frances Tiafoe in the championship match. Roger Federer has won it the most times with seven in all with Novak Djokovic being the oldest champion sealing it in 2023 at the age of 36.
Among the top round one ties include Tomas Martin Etcheverry, the winner faces Felix Auger-Aliassime. Joao Fonseca faces Yunchokate Bu and the winner takes on Alejandro Davidovich Fokina. The winner of Brooksby v Muller faces Arthur Fils while Monfils v Basavareddy with the winner facing Alexander Zverev.
Top round twos include Tommy Paul v Nicolas Jarry, Casper Ruud v Nuno Borges, Stefanos Tsitsipas v Fabian Marozsan, Lorenzo Musetti could face Matteo Arnaldi. Taylor Fritz as home hero could face Borna Coric. While Ben Shelton could take on Kei Nishikori in a fun tie. Finally Andrey Rublev could yet face Learner Tien.
When it comes to the main names, Jannik Sinner faces a bye then Vit Kopriva or a qualifier. His likely first test is the superb Canadian youngster, Gabriel Diallo likely in Last 32. While Alcaraz on the other hand faces Mattia Bellucci or Damir Dzumhur.

Quarter-Finals for Sinner and Alcaraz?

The likely route sees him potentially face Tallon Griekspoor in the latter stages. Projected Quarter-Finals by seeding would likely see Alcaraz face Alex de Minaur. While projected at the top of the draw, Sinner is on a course with Lorenzo Musetti in an all Italian duel. Taylor Fritz could face Holger Rune.
Popyrin who lost today to Zverev could also be in a top latter stage tie with Andrey Rublev sitting in the same part of the draw as De MInaur so while the projected Quarter-Finals are there it is very much anybody's game.
While Ben Shelton could take on Alexander Zverev. This means we could feasibly get Sinner v Alcaraz in the final again but also Zverev could act as a spoiler in the works and could face Sinner himself. Albeit despite Djokovic not playing it is good to see a draw where the top names are involved unlike Canada which has majorly struggled wtih a lack of star power.
Despite being a mandatory event, it is one with a good Quarter-Final line-up but missing most of the top stars. Only really Djokovic and Jack Draper out of the top names are missing in Cincy albeit it opens up a real discussion about 12 day tournaments. This is especially the case when the women's draw takes place tomorrow a day before the tournament begins with Canada still ongoing.
A nice balanced draw in the men's with no outlandish ties and a clear route for the big names. Most of whom will play for the first time since Wimbledon but will it move to type or be shocks galore.
