Emma Raducanu could be awarded a CBD by the Queen after her
US Open triumph during the New Year's Honours.
Emma Raducanu won the US Open in sensational fashion by not dropping a single set in 7 main draw matches and 3 qualifying ones. She became the first qualifier to ever with a grand slam event and she did it in stellar fashion. By doing so, Raducanu became a superstar in Great Britain overnight. Endorsement deals are already lining up and a possible major honour might be as well.
Sources from inside Buckingham Palace are claiming Raducanu is in line to receive an MBE (Member of the Most Excellent Order of British Empire). The honour is given to British subjects who did extraordinary things in different spheres of life. Some sources even claim that officials are debating awarding Raducanu a CBE, something unheard of for a teenager. A royal source was quoted as saying:
‘It would seem Miss Raducanu would be deserving of at least an OBE, if not a CBE.’
We will have to wait a bit longer to find out what will happen but either way, Raducanu is enjoying the best time of her life right now.
