The directions of players in regards to their season opener has been set with the announcement of the 2025 United Cup Entry List through the night on Friday.
Alex de Minaur will lead the line for Australia in his home country with the state of the draw and who will be playing where to be confirmed in the coming days. But seven out of the top 10 women and six of the world's top 12 men have committed to the tournament.
Team USA in particular are the strongest with many teams having distinct gaps in between their big names. For them though it is Coco Gauff, Taylor Fritz and also Danielle Collins. The latter was confirmed which left many puzzled due to her supposed retirement.
But she soon announced that she will play on into 2025. Iga Swiatek and Hubert Hurkacz will return for Poland as will Alexander Zverev flanked by Laura Siegemund.
Stefanos Tsitsipas and Maria Sakkari as ever make up Team Greece as well as his brother Petros. While Jasmine Paolini in a new found position as Italy's leading tennis light alongside Jannik Sinner will lead a team without the men's World No.1.
Zheng Qinwen will lead Chinese hopes, while Jack Draper and Katie Boulter will hope to bring glory to Great Britain. As well as those aforementioned names. Kazakhstan’s (5) Elena Rybakina, Norway’s (8) Casper Ruud, Brazil’s (10) Beatriz Haddad Maia, Canada’s (21) Felix Auger-Aliassime and (34) Leylah Fernandez, and Tokyo 2020 Olympic gold medallist Belinda Bencic are involved. The latter returns after pregnancy.
“It is fantastic to see seven of the world’s Top 10 women and six of the world’s Top 12 men enter the United Cup in 2025, in what will be a thrilling start to the Australian summer of tennis in Perth and Sydney,” United Cup Tournament Director Stephen Farrow said.
“The United Cup holds a unique position in global tennis, with the world’s best men and women representing their country at the highest level.
“The top 16 teams include some of the sport’s global tennis stars, such as Swiatek, Gauff, Zverev, Fritz, Tsitsipas, Paolini, Australia’s very own Alex de Minaur and many more who have all committed to play in this mixed team format to showcase the unique equality of tennis.
“We look forward to the official draw next Monday to determine where each country will play across Perth and Sydney.”
