Jason Kubler played a superb match to take down
Dan Evans at the
United Cup, rallying from 0-5 down in the second set to finish the match in two sets.
Evans was heavily favoured in this clash against Kubler but the Australian produced a stellar effort in front of his fans to stun the Brit in two sets. The first set was a set where Kubler simply outplayed Evans in most facets of the game and he took the set 6-3 deservedly. Kubler simply served better and played the crucial rallies better which was more than enough.
The second set was one where Evans took apart the game of Kubler. The Australian was unable to handle Evans who upped his aggressiveness and his shots worked well. It was 5-0 for Evans and 30-15 on the serve of Kubler with a final set pretty much guaranteed. Kubler won that game and then broke Evans and made it 5-3.
He then saved a set point and broke Evans once more making it 5-5. The crowd was going crazy with Evans holding his nerves and serve to make it 6-5. Kubler sent the match into a tiebreak and outplayed Evans fairly easy to take it 7-3.
