Nick Kyrgios took a dig at Lleyton Hewitt over the United Cup as the former player hinted at Kyrgios not communicating well around his withdrawal from the competition.
Kyrgios withdrew hours before the start of the competition leaving Hewitt in a tough spot in terms of planning and adjusting for his absence. Kyrgios withdrew due to an injury and Hewitt commented on the situation:
"For the whole team, it was pretty tough not knowing what was going on the last 24 hours. It was more probably the lack of communication. If it was just worrying Nick, that's one thing, but when it revolves around the team and other people and I guess their preparation, they want to be playing as well as they can, not just in this event but also leading into the Australian Open. That's probably the hardest thing."
Ajla Tomljanovic die the same thing Kyrgios did by pulling out hours before the match due to a knee injury and the Australian could not keep quiet taking a shot at Hewitt on social media. He wrote:
"Mmm I wonder if Stosur will throw her under the bus like our captain did for me, ‘hard to prepare when you don’t know what’s going on’."
