With Novak Djokovic's status for the Australian Open still in the air, Aussie tennis player Alex De Minaur believes that fans and players alike would like to see the Serbian defend his title in Melbourne.
Djokovic has refused to reveal his vaccination status, putting his participation at the Australian Open in doubt. The World No.1 is reportedly set to skip the ATP Cup, which kicks off in less than a week and is used as a warm-up for the Australian Open.
In an interview with 9News Melbourne, De Minaur stated he believes everyone would like to see Djokovic play and go for a record 21st Grand Slam title.
"Who knows. I'm pretty sure everyone would love to see him play," said De Minaur when asked about the Djokovic situation. "You know, it's his decision, we will see."
Just days after the Davis Cup Finals, Djokovic's name appeared on the ATP Cup and Australian Open entry lists. However, the 34-year old is yet to confirm his participation at either of the events.
