Fabio Fognini secures spot in final at the Diriyah Tennis Cup with victory over Monfils

Again, Fognini was an outsider in this match. First, he defeated John Isner to reach the semifinal and now he had another difficult task. After the match against Isner, the Italian said: "It was a bit strange a little bit because it was windy. I’m happy because I won because I was feeling good. Even because I won. And I have another opertunity against one of these two guys (Monfils or Wawrinka). John was serving good but in the second set I tried to hit the ball very hard. I am relaxed for the upcoming year and feeling very good."

Monfils started the first semifinal match of the day with his service. But in the 5th game, Fognini converted his 2nd break point to gain the lead. He did not lose it later and won the first set 6-4.

In the 2nd set, Monfils won the first game and had 3 break points in the second. But did not convert any and allowed his opponent to convert his 3rd in the next game. Since that moment, we did not see any more break points and so Fognini won the match 6-4 and 6-4 to reach the final in Riyadh.
