Medvedev joins Fognini in the final at the 2019 Diriyah Tennis Cup

During the pre-season tournament Diriyah Tennis Cup, we still did not see any 3 set match. And Daniil Medvedev with David Goffin continued in this streak.

World number 5 started the match better, when he broke Goffin's 2nd service game to gain the lead. He added one more break later in the set to win it 6-3.

In the second set, Medvedev struggled to convert break points as he had 5 opportunities, but used only one. However, that was enough as Goffin did not have any break points during the set. Medvedev won also the second set and advanced into the final. There, he will be facing Fabio Fognini, who defeated Gael Monfils.

After the quarterfinal match Medvedev said: "It was a great match and it is never easy to play during the pre-season and to know how you are playing. Today it was really good to beat Jan because he is one of the best players. It was a bit windy so it was a bit different for both players, I really like the surface here! Everything here is very great, it is a very good organisation – we have everything to practice good and play good. My goal is to win every match I have, because I hate to lose."
