Roger Federer headlined the first day at the Swiss Indoors in Basel with a comfortable victory over Peter Gojowczyk 6-2 and 6-1.
The day in Switzerland started with matches of Jan-Lennard Struff against Miomir Kecmanovic and Roger Federer against Peter Gojowczyk.
Federer is aiming to win his 10th title in his home town and started perfectly with a victory in just 54 minutes. He was soon followed by Struff who won 6-4 and 6-2 in 63 minutes.
28th player of ATP Ranking Alex De Minaur is also among the players that fight for the title in Basel. In the first round he defeated qualifier Hugo Dellien 6-1 and 7-5.
First surprise of the first day of play was the victory of the home player Henri Laaksonen over 8th seeded Benoit Paire. Laaksonen will meet Struff in the next round to fight for the place in the quarterfinals.
