Feliciano Lopez announces retirement after 25 years on tour

Former world number 12 Feliciano Lopez has announced his retirement suddenly ending a pretty good career that yielded some fantastic moments.

Lopez was a mainstay on the tennis tour for a very long time. He's been a tennis professional for 25 years but it's for a new chapter as the Spaniard announced his retirement from the sport. It came on the first day of the new year with a social media post on Instagram. In the video, Lopez spoke over some of his career highlights saying:

"Dear friends. The time has come to share with you something that most athletes think will never come. After more than twenty years competing on the circuit, I have decided to put an end to what one day began as an illusion and ended up becoming the most beautiful and exciting job in the world."
