World no. 22 Felix Auger-Aliassime announced the new name in his coaching staff ahead of the season's second Masters 1000 event in Monte Carlo. The young Canadian will train with Rafael Nadal's uncle Toni in Monte Carlo, Madrid and Roland Garros this spring.
The famous coach returns to action for the first time since 2017, when he stopped traveling with Rafa and went back home to Mallorca. Toni has been taking care of Rafa Nadal Academy in Manacor, working with juniors and serving as the tournament director of the ATP 250 Mallorca Open.
After four years, Toni will work as the coach on the Tour again, meeting Felix in December last year at Nadal's Academy and staying in toch with him. Influenced by Toni's experience, Felix will work with him a couple of times this spring, seeking good results on the slowest surface and trying to win the first ATP title.
Auger-Aliassime made a solid start of the season, losing the final ahead of the Australian Open and suffering a heavy fourth-round defeat at the season's first Major, wasting two sets to love lead against Aslan Karatsev.
