Felix Auger-Aliassime is continuing to play fabulous tennis this year as he eased into the Open 13 Provence semifinal.
His opponent was Ilya Ivashka and besides a bit of a slow start, Auger-Aliassime did not have any trouble in this match. He lost his serve in the first game but quickly after that found a way to exploit the game of Ivashka who was not able to counter that. Auger-Aliassime was much better in rallies overall and generally served well when he found a rhythm.
Ivashka tried a couple of things but none of them worked as Auger-Aliassime had all the answers. The Canadian has been one of the top performers so far this season and the way he is currently playing he is certainly a candidate to win this event as well. He was by far the best player in Rotterdam last week and so far in Marseille, it's looking very similar.
The final score ended up being 6-3 6-4 in a match that was messier than usual for Auger-Aliassime but he was able to pull it out nonetheless. Two dropped serves will not make him happy but he's in the semifinal and he will have a chance to battle for the final. That was the goal before stepping out on the court he accomplished it.
