Daniil Medvedev will contest back-to-back finals during this year's Sunshine Double backing up his run at Indian Wells with a 7-6(2), 3-6, 6-3 win over compatriot, Karen Khachanov at the
Miami Open on Friday evening.
Medvedev will now face either Carlos Alcaraz again who made light work of the former World No.1 in California or he will take on Jannik Sinner.
It is a fifth final in a row in an incredible start to the year for Medvedev who beat his childhood friend after a spirited display from Khachanov. After a closely fought tiebreak in the opening set, Khachanov took the second playing some excellent tennis.
But he started to make mistakes in the decider which proved costly, this allowed Medvedev to surge into a 4-1 lead and finish the match off after the mid match surge from Khachanov proved to be too early to trouble his compatriot.
He produced flat groundstrokes with consistency and accuracy to force him into these errors and continues to be must watch tennis.
