French tennis player Pierre Hugues Herbert gave his thoughts after the French government recently lifted its vaccine mandate, admitting it's a sign that things are starting to get back to normal.
"I just learned it. For me it's a relief, but I have the impression that it is for everyone," said Herbert. "We have all been through this period, whether we are vaccinated or not vaccinated. If the restrictions are lifted, it means that we are starting to get out of them.
"I am personally happy for the whole population, in fact! Let us leave aside this subject which was very heavy. Even if I tell myself that it could come back at any time… Lots of things can still happen. And the good news is that I can play Roland‐Garros!"
In December, Herbert became the first player to pull out of the Australian Open due to their vaccine mandate. However, following this news, unvaccinated players like the Frenchman and World No.2 Novak Djokovic will be able to compete at the Monte Carlos Masters and the French Open without any issues.
