Frances Tiafoe kept on winning in Paris beating Jack Draper rather comfortably 6-3 7-5 to move on to the next round.
Tiafoe played a very patient brand of tennis which is somewhat unlike him generally but he did demonstrate that amount of patience many times this year. Tiafoe is maturing into a very serious player who knows what he needs to do to win a match.
He waited for Draper to hit a wall in both sets and when he finally did, Tiafoe took advantage of it. The American was able to handle the pressure situation really well saving all break points he faced. Draper had seven break points but he was unable to win a single point when he had a break point.
That confidence in pressure situations allowed Tiafoe to win two of 5 break points he had which proved enough in both sets. He had fewer aces and fewer winners than Draper but also had fewer errors demonstrating that he chose his spots better.
