Fritz overpowers Kecmanovic for the Indian Wells semifinal

Taylor Fritz is back into the semifinal of an ATP 1000 event as he downed Miomir Kecmanovic in three sets 7-6(5) 3-6 6-1.

This match went largely as expected with Frit coming out on top after a furious 3rd set after Kecmanovic melted down. The Serbian played very strong tennis early on and held his own against Fritz who enjoyed tremendous support from the crowd. He saved a break point midway through the set and squandered a 40-15 lead at 5-5.

Eventually, we ended up in a very close tiebreak and Fritz proved better 7-5. Things were quite different in the 2nd set as the Serbian had a couple of issues on his serve. Fritz almost broke him a couple of times but the Serbian held on and waited patiently.

His patience proved crucial late in the 2nd set as Fritz played a very ad service game that Kecmanovic won. The Serbian closed out the 2nd set with 6-3. A huge battle was largely expected in the final set but e did not get it. Kecmanovic lost his serve after leading 30-0 in the first service game in the final set. He completely lost it after that allowing Fritz to easily cruise with 6-1.
