Rafael Nadal was about Nick Kyrgios smashing his racquet at the end of the match that nearly hit a ball kid and the Spaniard gave an honest response about the situation and trends in tennis generally.
After the match between Nadal and Kyrgios ended, Kyrgios smashed his racquet into the ground which sent it flying. An unfortunate bounce made the racquet go towards a ball kid who ducked in order to escape it. It was a strange situation that nearly resulted in a terrible outcome but luckily nobody was hurt. After the match, Kyrgios apologized for it on Instagram.
Nadal was also asked about it and he said:
"I like him like a character but of course when you cross some lines the thing becomes different. In my opinion the problem is the same. When you allow the players to do stuff you don't know where the line is."
He further said that soem changes are needed as things like tennis are happening more and more often:
"It's a tricky thing because these situations are happening more and more often, probably ATP should review and make decisions. Not about today's match, because I did not see clearly what happened so I can't have an opinion."
Nadal finished off by saying that Kyrgios is a good guy which many tend to agree but situations like these racquet smashes should be disallowed according to Nadal.
