Please elaborate on my “ego” Brayden, would love to hear about how that played a part in how the team was chosen 😂
USA's exit from the Davis Cup Finals created a lot of controversy in the tennis community, particularly after they lost the crucial doubles with their best doubles players not being selected.
There was really no reason for Team Captain Mardy Fish to leave out Rajeev Ram, USA's best doubles player who was playing in superb form just days ago in Turin. Every team can bring up to five players but Fish selected only four players justifying it that it's far more complicated than just picking the best players.
It didn't work as their doubles team failed to secure the crucial point against Italy and Canadian tennis player Brayden Schnur suggested on Twitter that it had to do with ego:
"Look at the players on the team. Take a look at their egos. We’re all smart enough to put the pieces together. I feel for Rajeev, great player even better man."
Fritz responded to that:
"Please elaborate on my “ego” Brayden, would love to hear about how that played a part in how the team was chosen."
Schnur responded to Fritz:
"Don’t hate the player, hate the game. I call it as I see it. Don’t tell me benching a world number 1 was in your guys favor."
Fritz then wrote this:
"Still dodging the question... I mean if ur gonna take shots at us u can at least elaborate on it no?"
