Taylor Fritz took on
Alexander Bublik in the second match of the USA - Kazakhstan tie in the
Davis Cup and he delivered the second point with a 7-6(6) 1-6 6-3 win.
Tommy Paul once again played a great match to win the first point for the US against Mikhail Kukushkin and Taylor Fritz followed that up with a win. The first set was a close one but Bublik was a bit better early having a 5-3 lead but he squandered a 40-15 lead when serving for the set.
In total, Fritz saved three set points overall to force a tiebreak where he proved a bit better taking it 8-6. He could not keep up that momentum in the second set as Bublik unleashed all his fury to take an early break and after that, he simply piled up and smashed Fritz 6-1 to take the second set.
Fritz countered with some amazing tennis early in the 3rd set taking the break as Bublik relaxed too much. The American would hold onto his lead to finish off the set 6-3 and secure the second crucial point for the US who have now beat both Great Britain and Kazakhstan.
