Dominic Thiem opted to play some indoor tennis this week but he is doing it on the Challenger Tour as there are no ATP events this week and he's in the quarterfinal 6-3 6-4.
After surviving a 3-set clash against veteran Gilles Simon, the Austrian was able to overcome grass season breakout star
Ryan Peniston. It didn't start that well for Thiem as he traded breaks early with Peniston but the Brit was able to take another one.
He was up 3-1 but after finally finding his rhythm, Thiem took over the match. He broke back and made it 3-3 and after some battling, he took another break 5-3. A strong service game finished it off 6-3 and it was a glorious end to a 5-0 run from the Austrian.
He opened the second set with another break taking a 2-0 lead which meant that he won 7 games in a row by then. The Brit finally broke the run but he simply could not keep up with Thiem from the baseline. The Austrian missed a chance to make it a double break lead but it didn't matter much as he remained cool to advance to the quarterfinal after a 6-3 second set finish.
