Fabio Fognini leads the field of the clay-court specialists in Kitzbuhel for the 2020 Generali Open. However, any of the players can become the champion as we can expect a lot of interesting results as tennis returned after the ATP Tour suspension. The first round began already on 8th September with some qualifying matches to be finished to form the full draw.

The fifth-seeded Hubert Hurkacz kicked-off the tournament against Joao Sousa. The Polish player proved his qualities and advanced to the second round after a straight-set victory in an hour and 24 minutes. Although the match between Sebastian Ofner and Radu Albot was the only match without a seeded player on Tuesday, the two showed a great spectacle with the Austrian prevailing after almost a 3-hour battle.
A few months ago, Yoshihito Nishioka stated that people should remember his name and not mistake it with Kei Nishikori. However, it didn't matter in Kitzbuhel on Tuesday as both Japanese players were knocked out of the tournament. First, it was Miomir Kecmanovic who outplayed Nishikori and then Guido Pella defeated Nishioka.
?? Hurkacz, H. | ?? Sousa, J. | 2-0 | 6-3, 7-5 |
?? Ofner, S. | ?? Albot, R. | 2-1 | 6-7(5), 6-4, 7-6(4) |
