Angelique Kerber has been one of the more impressive players at
Wimbledon in the past week and the German is in the semifinals.
She has been playing great tennis since the start of the event and this run seems very similar to her run in 2018 when she won Wimbledon. Her latest victory came over Karolina Muchova 6-2 6-3 which was another great performance by Kerber albeit Muchova did not play well. After the match she said:
"I just try to continue my play on grass. Having, of course, the confidence from the last week, coming here with a title in my bag, gives me also confidence that grass is really my surface."
Kerber was asked if it's good to know she already won Wimbledon making the pressure less to which she said:
"Of course, it's a good feeling already to have the [Wimbledon] trophy at home and to win it here. I think it's more about this tournament for me because when I was a kid I really looked forward to playing this tournament good and playing my best tennis here."
To reach the finals, Kerber will need to go through Barty and asked about that she said:
"Against Ash, I know that I have to play my best tennis. She has a lot of confidence right now. She played well. I know that I have to play my own game. I have to just think how to play, be aggressive, and try to take the match more in my hands and go for it. Even if I miss a few shots, I have to stay there and try to push her."
