It was a brilliant performance by the youngster who flashed some of his form a couple of days earlier during the Red Bull Bassline event where he bested Stefanos Tsitsiaps in the final. Against Murray, he was even better and following the match Alcaraz did not hide his satisfaction about the victory:
“For me, it’s a great feeling to play against Andy Murray
and to be able to beat him. I played really, really well and I’m just really happy for the
performance today.”
Alcaraz also spoke about their Indian Wells encounter explaining that he did not quite know what would happen considering it was their first match. He was better prepared now explaining:
“Indian Wells was the first time that I met Andy Murray on the court and now I knew a little bit more [about] Andy Murray, so I just knew his game, how to play was just trying to play aggressive, not let him play his game.”
Murray himself is a fan of the youngster famously saying that he believes he has a chance at being number one in the future:
“I think Alcaraz is really, really good. I think he’s got a good chance at it.”
