Andy Murray went out of the Erste Bank Open in Vienna after yet another early loss with this coming against Spanish phenom Carlos Alcaraz.
The match was a brilliant one that saw great tennis played by both players but in key moments Alcaraz simply had more power than Murray. The Spaniard was blasting away with his forehand and eventually, he was able to wear down Murray who was running a lot. After the match Murray admitted disappointment but also said:
"I'm not going to keep losing in the second and third rounds of tournaments. I will get better and I will improve and I will break through in one week, or two weeks, or a few months. It will happen. I obviously would like it to be happening quicker than what it is."
For Murray, it's all about being consistent and improving little by little. He believes that will allow him to get back to the top and he's not far removed from the truth. The Brit has been playing very good tennis lately it's just very hard for him to play a complete match. He defeated Alcaraz not even a month ago in Indian Wells, he led Zverev twice in Indian Wells, he almost defeated Tsitsipas at the US Open.
Murray himself echoed the same sentinent saying:
"If I continue on that path and build up a little bit more consistency, be that little bit more clinical and a bit more ruthless, I will start winning more and have some deep runs, but it's tough."
