"Great to be on the court with him" says Andy Murray following win over Rafael Nadal

Andy Murray played a great match to defeat Rafael Nadal in Abu Dhabi and secure a final showdown against Andrey Rublev.

The British player was the better player from start to finish and it's reflected in the 6-3 7-5 scoreline. Nadal showed some rest overhitting quite a few balls and towards the end, he seemed a bit tired and all of that is normal. The Spaniard id not played since August and playing himself into match shape is something he will need to do.

After the match, Murray expressed satisfaction about sharing the court with Nadal again:

“It is great to be back on the court and being able to play at this level again after a very long time. We have not played for five or six years. It shows both of us have gone through a lot of injury troubles and issues and it is just great to have the opportunity to be on the court with him again."

Asked about the match specifically he said:

"I played a solid match and served well. I didn’t give him too many opportunities. It was a combination of me playing solid and him hardly playing for the last five or six months. I know how that feels. It doesn’t get easier when you get older.”
