Former player Mark Petchey believes that Alcaraz and Sinner will fill in the gap nicely when the big four leaves tennis and in some ways, they are even better.
Most people assumed that tennis will take a hit once all four members of the big four retire from the sport. That won't be the case according to Mark Petchey who believes that players like Sinner and Alcaraz will fill in nicely because of their tremendous skill. Both Alcaraz and Sinner display magnificent tennis skills in their clash at the Miami Open and it's certainly a preview of what's to come in the next few years.
It's going to be a good time for many tennis fans according to Petchey:
"We were all heading towards the fact that we thought there
was going to be this vacuum as the Big 4 were raging against the light
in their respective careers. Yet we already have a couple of players that have elevated our perspective of the sport. The way they move at the back of the court seems to be better than even the Big 4."
It seems like a rivalry between the players is growing and both are embracing it. If so, it would be one to watch and certainly one where the tennis skill would not be too far from the legendary big four rivalries we watched over the years. Do you agree with Petchey, let us now below.
