Coach Darren Cahill believes that Italy’s young tennis star
Jannik Sinner is ready to win a Grand Slam in 2024.
The 22-year-old is often regarded as one of the most
highly-rated young tennis stars currently playing the game in the men’s singles category
along with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz and America’s Ben Shelton.
Cahill, who is currently coaching Sinner, was recently
quoted in a report where he stated that the current world number four is ready
to win a major title in 2024.
"He is ready to win a Major, already in Australia,” he
said. “Jannik's physique is a priority for the team...Now he trusts his body
much more, he has less pain, he knows himself better.”
Sinner had a fabulous end to the 2023 season where he played
a key role in helping Italy in winning the Davis Cup title for the first time
in more than four decades. He saved three match points against the current
world number Novak Djokovic which saved Italy from crashing out of the Davis
Cup main round in the semifinal.
Earlier, Sinner also qualified
for the final of the ATP Finals in Turin where he was eventually defeated by
Djokovic with a score of 6-3, 6-3.
