Like Djokovic, Marion Bartoli lifted the Wimbledon trophy and she is a very big fan of Djokovic, praising the Serbian often.
Novak Djokovic is perhaps the best tennis player of all time yet nobody would agree that he is the most popular. Both Federer and Nadal are more popular worldwide with the Serbian often catching criticism for his outspoken style and emotional display. For Marion Bartoli that is a very good thing as she has high praise for Djokovic often.
Speaking with 'We Love Tennis' Bartoli said:
“I know Novak [Djokovic] very well. Contrary to popular belief, Novak is selfless and generous, but also extremely intelligent.”
Djokovic has been perceived to be arrogant in the past by a few but Bartoli completely disagrees. To highlight what type of person he is, she used an example:
“Novak’s approach [with the PTPA] is not to create a counter-power or to exert pressure. He simply wants to defend the interests of lower-ranked players, allow them to earn more money, to have more means. Djokovic is a person who is viscerally oriented towards others. On the court, he reflects the image of a killer, but in life, this is not the case and he often sees beyond his own interests.”
