"He was crazy fast. I Could not believe it" - Tommy Paul on Carlos Alcaraz

Carlos Alcaraz apperead in control against Tommy Paul but the American ultimately proved better beating the Spaniard in two sets.

It was a long and fabulous match that saw Paul come back from a break down in the 2nd set to take in the tiebreak as well as taking the 3rd. Alcaraz has not been playing as well as he was playing earlier this year and he admitted to feeling quite a bit of pressure as the 2nd seed but he got beaten because Paul played a superb match.

The American had a lot of fun:

"Yeah, definitely [a very entertaining match]. There was no real drops in level in the match overall, it was just a lot of fun being on court- Carlos Alcaraz is a super nice kid, great sport win or lose, so I think we were just enjoying being out there."

Paul knew about Alcaraz and his capabilities but he was really suprised by the quickness of the Spaniard:

"He was crazy fast on court today, I couldn't believe it. I mean, I knew he was quick but he got to some balls that there's no one else on tour that's getting to. He was hitting him like good balls back."
