French tennis ace Pierre-Hugues Herbert has revealed that he will skip the US Open last month as he is set to become a father for the first time shortly.
Herbert is one of the main absentees from the entry list currently which has been released provisionally and he wants to be there for the birth of his child.
A former winner in the doubles at the US Open, he now leaves usual partner
Nicolas Mahut without one; but he has tagged Julien Benneteau in a tweet asking if he should sign them up.
"It's related to several things but the final decision was made because of it (becoming a father) We know that from the ninth month, the delivery can happen at any time and I could not see myself going to the other side of the planet to play a tournament. The decision was not easy to take compared to Nico (Mahut)," said Herbert to L'Équipe.
"I procrastinated a lot. If it had only been simple, the decision would have been much more obvious. I broke my head for almost three months. I hope he will find someone."
