The coach of Serena Williams
Patrick Mouratoglou has heaped
praise on the Danish teenager
Holger Rune after his epic run to the
quarter-finals of Roland Garros, declaring him ‘a great match winner.’
Holger Rune was one of the revelations of Roland Garros this year. The Dane reached the last eight of the Paris Slam in just his first appearance at the Major – his best result in any Grand Slam to date too.
Following his fantastic French Open run, Patrick Mouratoglou praised the teen, who is in fact a part of the French coach’s academy.
He said:
“Holger Rune always does more than what you expect from him. His
top two qualities is his ability to believe in himself and his
competitiveness. He is a great match winner. He knows how to win and he
always has been able to win.”
Rune trained at the Mouratoglou facilities for a few years and helped celebrate this year's generation of graduates from the Mouratoglou Academy as well.
