Rafael Nadal won't play any more tennis in 2021 as the Spaniard decided against playing tennis in order to figure out a foot issue that flammed back up recently.
Nadal tried coming back for the US Open series in North American but after experiencing a setback with his foot he decided to skip the entirety of the remaining season. The issue is nothing new for Nadal as he announced he has been dealing with it since 2005.
Eurosport tennis analyst Mats Wilander was asked about and he said:
"We are getting used to expecting him not to play. He's always trying, he's always ready. He's trying but he can't do it. With every year seems like he's playing less. He's getting older and his body is taking a beating."
Wilander underlined that he believes Nadal will keep coming back:
"The will is there. He will be coming back until he absolutely can't. I don't think it's an end of an era, maybe the end of winning Grand Slams but not the end of filling stands with fans."
Wilander clarified his view by saying that you never know with Nadal and Federer and that they could still win major events but it seems less likely with every year that passes.
