FINAL FOUR 👏 @holgerrune2003's incredible indoor streak continues after a 7-6 7-6 win over Barrere 🔥 #OSDF23
Holger Rune keeps winning in indoor hard court conditions as he defeated native player Gregoire Barrere 7-6(2) 7-6(5) to advance to the semi-final.
When Rune last played in France indoors he was lifting the Paris Masters trophy. He's back with some more good tennis but this one was a very tricky match. Playing indoors against French player on their native soil is very hard to do as most of them play really well in that situation. Barrere was no exception as he delivered a pretty strong match overall but he simply lacked the skill needed to win the match in the crucial moment.
Rune didn't open the match well as he was rather slow to find his rhythm. Barrere used that to take an early 4-1 lead but he was unable to get the job done. He dropped his serve a bit later to give the break back to Rune and then barely held on not to lose the set completely. We ended up in a tiebreak and Rune dominated 7-2.
The second set opened better for the French player once again. He had two break points at 1-1 but failed to use either and it remained tied until the tiebreak. It was a well-contested one but Rune held the lead for the majority of it and he finished it off 7-5 to win the match and advance to the semi-finals.
