Holger Rune outlasts Casper Ruud to book Rome final

Casper Ruud impressed in the first set with an incredible level but Holger Rune was able to come back and win the match in three sets 6-7(2) 6-4 6-2.

It was a very interesting match and proof that Holger Rune is the real deal. He'll contest his second ATP 1000 final after beating Casper Ruud in three sets. The first set saw Ruud dominate the rallies on his serve posting an incredible stat line of 7 aces and 23 winners. He only had two unforced errors and it was pretty impossible for him to lose the set with such a display.

Still, he needed the tiebreak to get it which he did 7-2. The second set continued with Ruud playing really well and taking an early break. It seemed like the match was over but then Rune took a medical time out and everything changed. He started playing a bit better and attacking aggressively which worked wonderfully.

Rune didn't serve as well in the second set and the 2nd serve was attacked with great precision by Rune. He turned a 2-4 deficit into a 6-4 set win. The final set was another masterpiece by Rune who posted 13 winners and only one unforced error. Ruud was pretty bad with only 4 winners and 9 unforced errors.
