Hubert Hurkacz hires super team of Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu as new coaches for 2025 season

Polish tennis star Hubert Hurkacz has hired former world number one Ivan Lendl and Nicolas Massu as his coaches ahead of the 2025 season. The 27-year-old announced the development in a post on the social media platform.
Lendl has a lot of experience of working as a coach as well. He has worked with the former world number one Andy Murray and the reigning world number two Germany’s Alexander Zverev. Under his coaching, Murray won all his three Grand Slam titles as well.
Lendl is often regarded as one of the most successful Czech Republic players in the history of men’s tennis in the singles category. He retired in 1994 after winning 94 titles, which is the fourth-highest in the history of the Open Era. He finished his career with eight Grand Slam titles. His first major title was the French Open in 1984 where he defeated the former world number one America’s John McEnroe in a five-set thriller with a score of 3–6, 2–6, 6–4, 7–5, 7–5. His last major title was the Australian Open in 1990 where he got the better of Sweden’s Stefan Edberg in the final with a score of 4-6, 7-6, 5-2. He also hired Nicolas Massu who is former coach of Dominic Thiem as well as being a former Olympic Gold medalist.
Hurkacz has had a mixed season. The Wroclaw-born played 53 matches in the 2024 season where he won 36 and lost 17. His most impressive performance came in an ATP 250 event in Estoril where he lifted the title after beating Spain’s Pedro Martinez in the final in straight sets with a score of 6-3, 6-4. In terms of performances in the Grand Slams, his best outing came in the Australian Open where his journey ended in the quarterfinals. He lost Russia’s Daniil Medvedev in the last-eight clash in a five-set thriller with a score of 7-6, 2-6, 6-3, 5-7, 6-4.
