Hurkacz, Rublev first semifinalists in Dubai

Hubert Hurkacz and Andrey Rublev are the first semifinalist in Dubai after wins over McDonald and Sinner.

Mackenzie McDonald proved a very tough player to overcome for Andrey Rublev who entered that match very slow. The Russian has been playing somewhat sluggish this week after he exerted quite a bit of energy the week prior in Marseille. The American won the opening set with 6-2 but faltered as the match went on with Rublev finding ways to frustrate the American.

The Russian played better and better as the match went on winning the 2nd with 6-3 after which he smashed the American 6-1 in the final set. A good comeback win for Rublev who is once again playing a very good event in Dubai. Joining him in the semifinal will be Hubert Hurkacz who defeated his good friend Jannik Sinner.

The Italian smashed Hurkac a few months ago in Turin during the ATP Finals but the Polish player got his revenge today with a very resounding win over the Italian. Hurkacz defended extremely well in this match covering the court rather easily. Sinner tried to overcompensate by hitting the ball harder but he tallied more mistakes than winners and that was a very quick road to defeat.
