Anett Kontaveit smashes Ons Jabeur in Doha

Anett Kontaveit continues to win matches as she bested her good friend Ons Jabeur in Doha rather easily 6-4 6-1.

The Estonian player entered this matchup in better form as Jabeur is making her way back from an injury. Kontaveit expressed happiness about playing Jabeur considering the injury she suffered at the start of the year and while happy to play her, Kontaveit was not very merciful. The first set was rather competitive despite Kontaveit proving herself better initially.

Jabeur was able to stay in the match as Kontaveit failed to convert some of her early break points. She eventually did convert them later in the set after which she finished off the set with 6-4. The Estonian attacked relentlessly and Jabeur was unable to counter that. She also did not mix her play up enough to confuse Kontaveit and the Estonian piled up the lead in the 2nd set.

The 2nd set was a proper demolition as Kontaveit was simply on fire. She was hitting winners left and right and it was just too good for Jabeur who could not hold on. The Estonian finished off the set with 6-1 for the semifinal in Doha.
