“I am more than happy to win again in France” - Monfils shares emotions

After triumphing in 2010 and 2014, it was the third title in Montpellier for Monfils. The Frenchman also reached the final in 2012 but this year he did not repeat an unsuccessful final appearance.

“I am more than happy to win again in France,” said Monfils. “This is the third time [in Montpellier] and hopefully I can have some more [success]. It has been a great week. I am very pleased about my performance today, I think I played very solid again and I was very happy with the way I handled the key moments.”

Runner-up, Vasek Pospisil who will move by 28 places in the ATP Ranking also had a great week. It was his second ATP final and he commented on it saying: “It was an incredible week,” said Pospisil. “I had great wins and I feel like I am definitely improving week-by-week. I will try to rest now, take a couple of days easy and get ready for the next event.”
