When announcing that he won't be playing at the 2019 US Open and during the rest of the season, Anderson said: "I have spoken with my team, consulted with doctors, and we decided that the best course of action is to take the rest. This will give me enough time to undergo more rehab processes and get healthy.”
The 2020 ATP Cup will take place in Australia from 3rd - 12th of January. South Africa will be playing in Group A which will be played in Brisbane. Anderson, and his team, will face Serbia, France and Chile. The former world number 5 said:
"I can't wait to represent South Africa at the ATP Cup next year in Brisbane. I can't wait to battle with my fellow South Africans, we got some really tough competition in Serbia, France and Chile. It is a great way to start a year from a personal standpoint and from an overall tennis standpoint. The entire world will be watching and I hope we will have your support."
