Russian Tennis Federation President Shamil Tarpischev distanced himself from the comments
Andrey Rublev made recently.
On Wednesday,
Wimbledon banned Russian and Belarusian players from competing at this year's tournament creating a storm of events in the tennis community. Some players have openly spoken against it including some legends and Andrey Rublev was also one of them. He called the decision discrimination suggesting that players could donate their prize money to humanitarian efforts in Ukraine with Wimbledon adding some money as well.
Russian Tennis Federation President Tarpischev distanced himself from these comments when asked about it saying:
"I don't get what he is babbling about humanitarian aid. I
doubt he himself knows. The athlete said this. Ask him. Why make us two
enemies? I don't understand what he proposed and to whom."
Tarpischev did not offer any more comments when pressed about the issue.
