Alexander Zverev was able to finish off Casper Ruud in two sets despite feeling a bit tired towards the end of the match and that made him happy.
It's been a busy few weeks for Zverev who won the Erste Bank Open in Vienna last week and he finds himself in another semifinal in Paris. In this quarterfinal match against Casper Ruud, Zverev produced a high level of tennis which was enough to defeat his fellow ATP Finals attendee. After the match, he briefly spoke to the media and said:
"It was a good match and I think until the end when I got a little bit tired. so I'm happy to get it through in straight sets. Generally, I'm happy to be in the semifinals but I also know that tomorrow I need to do a lot to get my energy back."
Playing against Daniil Medvedev next is not going to be easy and Zverev is well aware of that. Matches against the Russian can be long and tiresome with many long rallies so Zverev will need to recover well in order to secure a spot in the final. Asked about facing Medvedev Zverev simply said:
"Hopefully I can do a lot of recovery. I thnk he is going to be a lot fresher than I am but this is part of tennis and I have to play my best. I have to recover. I have to do everything I can to give myself the best chance so I'm going to do that.
