Anett Kontaveit won the
Ostrava Open trophy with an impressive run that concluded with another great match and win over
Maria Sakkari.
The Estonian player continued playing well and adding another trophy to her cabinet. Kontaveit has now won 12 of the last 13 matches she played and it the confidence she was displaying on the court was clearly visible in Ostrava. She said:
"When you’re winning matches, it definitely gives you confidence. I feel like I am definitely playing better than I was in the middle of the season, and I think good things can come of it."
Kontaveit also spoke about her opponent Maria Sakkari praising her:
"I’ve really had a very good time on the court, and I think I’ve enjoyed it after a while, and that’s the thing I’m really most happy about. One of my friends who’s here this week to play doubles, she told me, ‘While we’re here, we might as well enjoy it,’ and that really sort of stuck with me this week."
Kontaveit had an amazing week in Ostrava not dropping a single set all week long and after the match, she summed up her week with:
