There are a “handful of guys” to watch in terms of future stars in men’s tennis, but
John McEnroe believes
Felix Auger-Aliassime is the pick of the bunch.
Auger-Aliassime started the 2022 season in brilliant fashion as he reached the quarter-final of the Australian Open and followed it up with his maiden ATP Tour singles title as he beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in the Rotterdam Open final a fortnight ago. He then finished runner-up to Andrey Rublev at the Open 13 on Sunday.
Seven-time Grand Slam winner and former world No 1 McEnroe is a fan:
“I like Felix a lot, the Canadian, Auger-Aliassime. He seems the sort of the guy that I
think was most likely to win from a bunch of them. I think there’s going
to be a handful of guys that are going to do it."
McEnroe further said:
“But right now, he’s making some incredible progress and showing a lot of people that to me, he’s going to be the guy in a few years.”
