Andy Murray returned to tennis at the bett1HULKS Indoors Cologne but his 1st round match against Fernando Verdasco didn't go the way he wanted.
Andy Murray returned to the courts at Cologne where he played against Fernando Verdasco and lost in straight sets. It wasn't the result he wanted and after the match he said:
“I need to get back to playing my game on the court, I’ve kind of gone away from that a little bit. I’m maybe making a few more mistakes than usual because of that.”
Murray fought hard in the match that lasted 100 minutes but after the match, he was honest to admit there are a lot of things that need to improve.
“I need to practice, I need to play matches and physically I need to get better. Some things I did a little bit better but overall it was not that much better than that match (against Stan Wawrinka in Paris)."
He concluded with:
“It’s a surface that I’m a little bit more comfortable on so that probably helped me. But in terms of my game, it was not much better.”
It's been a hard journey for Andy Murray but at times he has shown he has still got great tennis in him. Will he be able to come back fully remains to be seen.
